Dear Friends,

Mark your calendars!  And please help spread the word!

57th Street Meeting (of the Religious Society of Friends) would like to announce the involvement of the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) in this important community event...

In addition to AFSC, this event involves individuals and groups connected to the University of Chicago (see web listing for full list of participating orgs) and is a valuable opportunity for faith communities to explore ways in which our neighbors are working to make the world a better place.

This will be the largest collection of non-profit efforts here in Chicago working around the world - addressing issues from landmines to AIDS to water resources to orphans to literacy... the list goes on and on - and a wonderful resource for people, as individuals and communities, to learn more about opportunities for participation. The event is free and all are welcome to attend:

Chicago Public Radio Presents...
Global Activism Expo 2010

Saturday, April 17, 2010
Noon - 6PM
UIC Forum (725 W. Roosevelt Road)
FREE

Chicago Public Radio's third annual Global Activism Expo is a celebration not-to-miss!  Over 100 Chicago-area global activists, all featured guests of Worldview’s Global Activism Series, come together to share about their work.  Last year over 3,500 people attended the Expo – this year we're expecting more!  Festivities will include a Performance Stage, curated by Lethal Poetry, Inc. where the amazing talent associated with many of these organizations will be performing for you alongside remarkable Chicago talent; there will be a variety of food for sale from local ethnic restaurants; presentations will be made by various organizations throughout the day, so that you can better learn what they do and how you can get involved; and this year we're adding volunteer opportunities so you can actually get involved right on the spot (visit chicagopublicradio.org/expo and download the "WAYS YOU CAN GET INVOLVED" flyer to see what this is all about!).

From a panel discussion on Haiti to learning about Alternative Vacations and understanding the conflict in Sudan, download the complete list of scheduled presentations to see the 17 that will take place during the day.
